SHIVA'S WIG
Just a side note, I used some of the techniques that Katie Bair *the awesome* used
for her
Shiva Wig, since she is a wig maker, but modified some aspects as well.
I would recommend anyone looking to construct a Shiva wig to check out her tutorial.

I have never made a wig before, let alone a 4 foot long wig with huge dreadlocks.  I counted Shiva’s dreadlocks over and over again and got the number 11; 1 being the main middle one and the other 10 in pairs.

I decided that I had to do finish the rings first before I started the locks of hair, since the rings are attached under the hair.  For the three large rings, I took Styrofoam rings (used for making wreaths) and spray painted them silver.  The other rings I used needle work rings, which are already silver in color.

For the dreads, I first started off with cutting long thick strips of quilting stuffing into the desired lengths.  I then attached the metal rings to the stuffing and sewing it to secure them.  I then took blue hair extensions and covered the dreadlocks.  The top and bottom of the dreadlocks are secured by hair rubber bands and blue duct tape.  The middle of the dreads have fishing line wrapped from the top to the bottom to give a twisted braid look.  Make sure you wrap the fishing line TIGHT otherwise the hair will shed!

After parting the main wig into sections, I attached the individual braids using big safety pins and blue duct tape.  Taking the hair that was already on the main wig, I used that around the individual dreadlocks to cover the safety pins and tape.  I then re-wrapped fishing line over the braid again to secure the placement.  On the very top of the wig, I pinned an additional 2 wigs (one on left and one on right) to hide the pins and duct tape and then covered it with the long bangs.

For the gold details, I used small, medium and large ribbons and hot glued them to the wig.
Be careful of using hot glue on the wig, as it will melt the hair.

If I had to redo this wig all over again, I would have dyed the quilting stuffing strips blue before
wrapping the hair around it, in case of any "peek a boo" spots.  I would also redo the metal rings;
the actual shape of the rings come to a point, making the wig more Indian style. This you could do by
cutting the shape out of Styrofoam and shaping it with a knife and sanding it down.

Any wig will work as the base, but I would recommend a wig that is 3-4 feet.
